Alana Latincic

Alana Latincic is a practicing artist who was born in Canada's capital region, Ottawa. She is a graduate of the Visual Arts Department at the University of Ottawa, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialization in photography, as well as a Minor in English Literature.

Her interest in photo-based methods developed well into her degree, with her foundations beginning in painting and drawing. Though she has embraced photographic methods and spend a lot of time thinking critically about the contemporary climate of digital technologies, Latincic still turns to analog and traditional methods of art making as a means for creative experimentation.

Her most recent work collides video game consoles with IKEA catalogue objects as a commentary on both contemporary advertising strategies and how video games have reached a point of necessity in the domestic space which equates their status to that of furniture.
