"The sculpture's backstory has always been interesting to me. Rodin's original 'thinker' was conceived as part of his work The Gates of Hell, which served as inspiration for my larger piece completed this year, Schism. I also enjoy how there are over two dozen official full-size castings/ reproductions. I'd postulate that the true meaning of the work is less about 'philosophy', but could be representative of the industrial age and Rodin's ennui towards mortality at the turn of the century."
