Charadrius melodus

Christine Fitzgerald
From the Threatened series
Pigment print on archival natural rag
From wet collodion photographic plate
27 x 33 in. / 69 x 84 cm
Edition of 10
Mounted and framed in white shadow box frame

The images from the Threatened series combine the past with the present. The future is unwritten. This photographic series was produced using the nineteenth-century wet plate collodion process in which the hues, tones and serendipitous imperfections generated by the process combine with the subject matter to convey the disturbing present reality of the world’s threatened creatures and the bleak future they face. The series contemplates the tension between humans and the natural environment and the brevity of life.
