Artist's Insight:

Common name: One-eye sphinx, Latin Species name: Cerma cerintha

Collected in Lac Bonin, Quebec on July 3, 2006

When the Tufted Bird-Dropping Moth (Cerma cerintha) is at rest, its wings are folded back along the body. The colouration gives it the appearance of a bird dropping: mostly white in the middle, and dark at both ends.

This moth has a wingspread of 32 mm.
