Years of tumultuous changes that swept across a country, transforming the settlements below into a very different China. An industrial giant, a military force, a diplomatic ‘Wolf Warrior’.
But for the man in the faded uniform, little has changed.
Limestone bricks crumble underfoot, flowering branches scratch at the ramparts. And he still survives by selling apricots to anyone who will buy."
